Hayley Kliczko from Niles was selected at the annual major peewee international tryout held in Detroit, to join the West Coast Selects international program.
More than 200 girls were invited from across North America to compete for 51 positions and participate in the program’s international spring training development camp and the World Selects Invitational in Prague, Czech Republic, in April and May.
Kliczko currently plays goalkeeper for the Chicago Young Americans U-12 team. Last year’s team won the Illinois State Championship and took the bronze medal at the USA Hockey Nationals.
“Hayley Kliczko was superb. She not only showed she has the skill to be a top hockey prospect but also demonstrated great leadership and passion on the ice,” said Kathy Pippy, director of girls hockey for the Selects.
