Morton Grove letter to the editor: Waste-transfer station: Is there a worse idea?
Updated: September 24, 2012 6:05AM
MORTON GROVE — It is my understanding that the village of Morton Grove is negotiating to allow a garbage-transfer station to be erected on Oakton Street at the train tracks.
If correct, I can’t think of any worse ideas.
The village board voted down off-track betting and won’t allow a Twisted Tartan to come into the village. But evidently there is a welcome sign out for rats, mice, cockroaches and other vermin.
I remember when a foundry company was forced to leave the village because people complained about the smells. That foundry smell would be considered perfume compared to the possibilities of garbage.
If my information is correct and you live in that area, let the village board know your feelings.
Harold G. Cohon,
Morton Grove
