Golf Elementary School District 67 is losing another administrator next year, as the school board accepted the resignation of Golf Middle School Principal Erin Stein Thursday night.

Stein has held the post for three years. She replaced Mark Ostap, who had served as principal for just two years.

Stein, who was not at the meeting Thursday, could not immediately be reached for comment.

The school board is also searching for a new superintendent to replace outgoing district chief Jamie Reilly.

Reilly said it likely will be up to the new superintendent to find a replacement for Stein. Reilly noted that she too had to find a new principal, Stein, when she was hired as superintendent.

Reilly said Stein is leaving Golf to accept the post of principal at East Prairie School. The East Prairie District 73 School Board was expected to vote on her hiring also Thursday night, Reilly said.

Stein’s resignation is effective June 30.

Reilly noted that East Prairie, as a one-school district, has all grades from kindergarten through eighth in the same building. “She (Stein) is looking forward to working with all ages of students,” Reilly said.

“I’m very sorry to see Erin go,” she added. “I’m happy she’s pursuing her dreams.”

Reilly also is leaving at the end of the school year. The board has been interviewing candidates for the post for about the past two weeks.

Stein started as a fifth-grade teacher in River Forest, where she taught in a fifth- through eighth-grade building for five years. She then became the dean of students at Cooper Middle School in Buffalo Grove.

She served as assistant principal of Jack London Middle School in Wheeling before coming to Golf.
