MORTON GROVE — At its Aug. 16 meeting, the Morton Grove Park Board of Trustees:

• approved the purchase of one full set of hand weights and a new rack for the fitness club for a total of $6,035.

The set of weights, which includes handheld weights that range from 5 to 120 pounds, will be purchased from Dumbbell Buddy, and will replace the old set purchased in 2007. The rubber on those weights has worn off, said Rusmir Zec, Park Board commissioner.

The motion passed with one dissenting vote from Park Board President Betty Fergus.

“It’s a lot of money to spend when I’m concerned whether or not we’re seeing more people coming in to use the facilities,” Fergus said.

• approved the bid for the hardwood-floor refinishing project in the Prairie View Community Center to Norridge-based JM Building Maintenance for $3,788.

• approved several minor updates to the Board of Commissioners General Practice Manual.

• passed a motion to renew the Park District’s existing contract with Knutte and Associates, an independent certified public accounting firm. The $13,750 contract was renewed through 2014.

Knutte and Associates, Certified Public Accountants, now audits the district’s statements and provides audit opinions.
