Morton Grove Days got off to a rousing start over the weekend with the help of the Morton Grove Police Department.
The Blues Brothers, a band that played Sunday night, made a grand entrance in the tradition of the original Blues Brothers band, chased into the beer garden by a Morton Grove squad car.
Police Chief Mark Erickson said the event, planned ahead of time, came off without a hitch.
Weekend activities included the carnival with rides and games, entertainment each night and food from area restaurants.
Two more days of activities were planned for Tuesday and Wednesday after a break on Monday.
The July 4 events included the annual parade at 2:30 p.m. starting from Dempster and Central, and fireworks at 9:45 p.m.
All of the events were scheduled at Harrer Park, 6250 Dempster, and the Morton Grove American Legion Memorial Civic Center, 6140 Dempster.
