Snow on the ground isn’t keeping Morton Grove officials from making plans for the summer.
Trustees on Jan. 9 approved a resolution to renegotiate a contract with All Around Amusements Inc., of Lockport, to provide carnival rides for this year’s and next year’s Morton Grove Days. The village had planned to seek new bids this year.
The annual festival, which takes place near the Fourth of July, includes carnival games and rides, food, music and other forms of entertainment.
The benefits to the village of using the Lockport company include an increase in the percentage of profits.
“The village will get 35 percent of the total gross receipts instead of the 25 percent we used to get,” explained Trustee William Grear, who heads the Morton Grove Days committee.
The festival is scheduled to be held June 30 to July 4.
“The 10-percent jump might generate up to nearly $10,000,” Grear added.
Also included in the proposed contract is an unlimited ride special for $20 per person per session from noon to 4 p.m., though on which days the special will be available has yet to be determined.
