Digital push leads classroom changes at District 219 this year

Aside from physical improvements at Niles Township High Schools, District 219 is testing a digital literacy requirement at both schools.

Under the program, freshmen students will take a self-paced blended-learning series during their study hall period to gain basic competence for computer usage, explained Ann Roloff, assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction at School District 219.

Niles North remodels cafeteria, locker rooms; Niles West updates hall of fame

A fresh school year begins this week at District 219 schools, and students at Niles North and Niles West High Schools will notice many changes that have taken shape over the summer — both in the way they learn in the classroom and throughout the buildings.

Skokie/Morton Grove District 69 strengthening link to high schools

Starting this school year, students at Skokie/Morton Grove School District 69 will start prepping for high school early under a new partnership with Niles Township High School District 219 that aims to streamline curriculum from kindergarten through senior year of high school.

New programs to guide teachers, students at District 207

As Maine Township High School District 207 prepares to welcome new and returning students, the district is rolling out a number of changes.

The changes include a new peer mentorship program for teachers, new student evaluations and the expansion of its 1:1 Chromebooks initiative. The district upgraded security with new cameras, and it’s planning a number of building renovation projects.

Five classroom addition opening soon at Park View School

The completion of a five-classroom addition and a heavier focus on technology highlight back-to-school season this year at Park View School in Morton Grove.

The $3.8 million classroom addition is expected to be ready for use about two weeks after school starts on August 21.

District 219 board approves tentative 2015 budget

SKOKIE — District 219 is projecting to spend about $158 million this school under a fiscal plan outlined in a tentative 2015 budget approved by the School Board Monday.

With revenue projected at approximately $163.6 million, that leaves a surplus in the budget of about $5.6 million.
