Read the press release below to learn about a VIP fashion workshop at Nordstrom Old Orchard March 20:
Liz Black, writer for Refinery 29, says “The average American woman is a size 14. The plus-size consumer comprises 67% of the apparel-purchasing community.” According to a recent article by Inforum.com, “The average American woman is about 25 pounds heavier than she was in 1960. Yet women’s plus-size clothing, generally defined as size 14 and up, still makes up only about 9 percent of the $190 billion spent annually on clothes. What’s wrong with this equation? It’s not that plus-size women aren’t into fashion. Rather, the fashion industry doesn’t seem interested in them.”
According to a Huffington Post article, “a new survey confirms what many plus-size women already know: While plus-size clothing is (relatively) plentiful online, it can be nearly
impossible to find in stores…” After a positive customer response to City Chic’s online availability at Nordstrom.com since July 2013, the retailer is adding City Chic to eight of its full-line stores.
City Chic brings its 10 year history of successful retail growth in the Australian, New Zealand and South African markets, to the Nordstrom plus size customer.
To celebrate the launch, Nordstrom is hosting a VIP fashion workshop for customers at Nordstrom Old Orchard Center (4937 Old Orchard Center, Skokie, IL 60077) on Thursday March 20, from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
