Crime brief: Man charged with intimidation in Morton Grove

According to the Morton Grove Police Department, a man was charged with intimidation after he tried to ransom a dog back to its owner. Read below for more information: 

Joseph Jando, a 27 year old male from Morton Grove, was charged with intimidation after he tried to ransom a dog back to its owner. Jando came into possession of the dog and made contact with the dog owner to demand $1200 for the safe return of said dog.  A Morton Grove Detective, acting in an undercover capacity as the dog owner, was met by Jando in a parking lot where Jando again demanded money for it’s safe return.  Jando was arrested at the scene and the dog was returned to its family. In a related matter, Jando was bit by the dog that he attempted to ransom and received stitches. Jando is on parole and was transported to Cook County for a parole warrant and our felony charges.
