PARK RIDGE — The resignation of Maine Township High School District 207 Board of Education member Joann Braam has created a vacancy on the board.

District 207 announced today (Oct. 31) that Braam, of Des Plaines, had stepped down from the School Board, citing her plans to move out of the district.

The Board of Education is now seeking candidates to fill the vacancy through April 2013. Applications will be accepted through Nov. 12.

Candidates must be a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years old, a resident of the school district for at least one year, a registered voter, and may not be an existing school trustee or school treasurer. Residents who meet these qualifications and are interested in the board seat should submit a letter of interest and a one-page resume outlining their involvement in the community to Board President Sean Sullivan, 1131 S. Dee Rd., Park Ridge, IL 60068 by 4 p.m., Nov. 12. Letters and resumes can also be faxed to (847) 696-3254 or e-mailed to Ginny Edwards at vedwards@maine207.org.

Braam was first elected to the District 207 School Board in 2003 and was most recently re-elected to a four-year term in 2011. She has served as chairwoman of the board’s Community Relations Committee and is a member of the Education and Policy Committee.
