NILES — Niles police have arrested a man they say robbed a 58-year-old woman of $300 last week in a Golf Road parking lot.
Peter Frauenhoffer, 29, of 24 N. Brougham, Wheeling, was charged with felony armed robbery hours after the alleged Aug. 16 incident.
According to Niles police the victim reported that she was driving east on Golf Road when she realized she was being tailgated by black SUV. After pulling into a parking lot about 3:30 p.m. on the 8200 block of Golf Road the woman told police she was approached by a man who displayed a metal file about 6 inches long and told her he knew she had “at least $1,000” from a coin shop she had visited earlier in Des Plaines. The man then allegedly threatened the woman with physical harm before she gave him $300 and he left the area, police said.
The victim provided police with a description of the SUV and the suspect, as well as the license-plate information, which led investigators to Frauenhoffer’s Wheeling home, where he was taken into custody, according to police.
Frauenhoffer remained in Cook County Jail this week with bond set at $120,000. His next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 31.~.
