Updated: August 13, 2012 7:08AM
The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Morton Grove Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.
DUI
Kashif M. Mushtaq, 20, of 4819 Davis, Skokie, was charged July 5 with driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding after an officer clocked him traveling 50 mph in a 35-mph zone on Dempster Street. The officer stopped Mushtaq, who police said failed field sobriety tests. He is to appear in court Aug. 20.
THEFT
Darnell A. Maupin, 45, of 1509 Madison, Evanston, was charged July 3 with retail theft. He was released on $1,500 bond pending a court appearance. Police said a security agent at Menard’s, 6301 Oakton St., saw Maupin put a metal bracket valued at $19 under some other items in a shopping cart, pay for the other items and leave the store with the bracket. Police said an officer stopped him as he was trying to drive away from the store.
A bicycle valued at $600 was taken July 3 from a bike rack at the Morton Grove Metra station, 8501 Lehigh Ave.
Two bicycles were taken either June 29 or June 30 from the side of a garage on the 8500 block of Mason.
Eight tires valued at $2,000 were taken between June 29 and July 1 from two cars at Castle Honda, 8833 Waukegan Road. The cars were put up on crates.
